Santa Fes unique blend of Spanish and Pueblo
Indian heritage lends it a rich multicultural flair. Walking through
the historic downtown Plaza or past the art galleries lining Canyon
Road, its not unusual to see an adobe building dating back to
the 17th century, or a statue paying homage to early Spanish settlers.
The area attracts visual artists from around the globe, who yearn
to capture the colors and lines of its unique rock formations and
plant life. The town practically hums with creativity, and many famous
artistic figures have lived in or emerged from Santa Fe, including
painter Georgia OKeeffe and writer Cormac McCarthy.
A Houston-based company that applied for permits last winter to drill in the Galisteo Basin has listed its mineral leases with a divestiture firm that serves the oil and gas industry.
